# Billing and subscription management

## What is the Billing tab

The Billing tab is where you manage the financial side of your Interlinked AI subscription. It provides a centralized view of your current plan, billing details, and subscription actions. This is the tab you visit when you need to answer questions such as:

- What plan am I subscribed to?
- How much am I paying?
- When does my plan renew?
- How do I cancel or change plans?
- Where can I manage my subscription?

To access the Billing tab, navigate to **Settings** → **Billing**, or go directly to:

**https://panel.interlinked-ai.com/en/settings?tab=billing**

## Current subscription summary

At the top of the Billing tab, you see a summary card with the key details of your active subscription:

| Field | Description |
|-------|-------------|
| **Current plan** | The name of your active plan (Free, Starter, Pro, or Ultra) |
| **Billing duration** | Your selected billing term (Monthly, 6 months, or 12 months) |
| **Current price** | The amount you are paying for the subscription, including any applied discounts |
| **Renewal date** | The date when your current billing term ends and your subscription renews |

This summary gives you a quick snapshot of your subscription status without needing to navigate to external billing portals.

## Subscription durations and discounts

Interlinked AI offers three billing durations for all paid plans. Longer commitments come with automatic built-in discounts:

| Duration | Discount | How it works |
|----------|----------|-------------|
| **Monthly** | None | Pay the standard monthly price. Renews every month. |
| **6 months** | **15% off** | Pay upfront for 6 months at a reduced rate. Renews every 6 months. |
| **12 months** | **25% off** | Pay upfront for 12 months at the lowest rate. Renews annually. |

These discounts apply automatically based on the billing term you select during subscription. They are separate from any promotional or partner codes you may apply — see "[Promotional and partner codes](#promotional-and-partner-codes)" below.

### How discounts are calculated

The discount is applied to the per-month rate and then multiplied by the number of months in the term. For example:

- If the standard monthly price for Pro is $X/month
- A 6-month term applies a 15% discount → you pay $X × 0.85 × 6
- A 12-month term applies a 25% discount → you pay $X × 0.75 × 12

The discounted total is charged upfront at the start of each billing term.

## Promotional and partner codes

In addition to billing-term discounts, Interlinked AI supports promotional and partner codes that can provide further savings. Partner codes are generated through the [Partner Program](/en/resources/docs/partner-program-overview) — they give referred customers a discount while earning the partner a recurring commission.

- Codes are entered during the **Stripe checkout flow** when you subscribe to or change a plan
- If a valid code is applied, the appropriate discount is reflected in the final price before you confirm
- Promotional codes and billing-term discounts are independent mechanisms — one is commitment-based, the other is code-based

  <p><strong>Tip</strong></p>
  <p>If you have received a promotional code from an Interlinked AI partner or campaign, enter it during the Stripe checkout to see the final adjusted price. The code discount is calculated on top of any billing-term discount you already selected.</p>
</div>

## Manage subscription

The Billing tab includes a **Manage subscription** action. Clicking it redirects you to the **Stripe customer portal**, a secure external page hosted by Stripe where you can perform subscription management actions.

From the Stripe customer portal, you can:

- **Cancel your subscription** — End your plan at the end of the current billing term
- **View your billing history** — See past charges and payment details
- **Update subscription details** — Manage other Stripe-level account settings

<div class="docs-callout docs-callout-note">
  <p><strong>Note</strong></p>
  <p>Some subscription actions — such as cancellation — are completed through Stripe's secure portal rather than inside the Interlinked AI panel. This is by design, as Stripe provides additional security and verification steps for billing-sensitive operations.</p>
</div>

## Upgrade your plan

The Billing tab also includes an **Upgrade your plan** action. Selecting it opens a modal within the Interlinked AI panel that allows you to change your subscription plan.

From this modal, you can:

- View the available plans and their included message allowances
- Select a new plan and billing duration
- Apply a promotional code if applicable
- Confirm the change

Plan changes do not all behave the same way. Upgrades and downgrades follow different rules — see [Upgrade, downgrade, and plan changes](/en/resources/docs/upgrade-downgrade-and-plan-changes) for a detailed explanation.

## Renewal and billing cycle behavior

Your subscription renews automatically based on the billing duration you selected:

- **Monthly plans** renew every 30 days
- **6-month plans** renew every 6 months
- **12-month plans** renew every 12 months

When your subscription renews successfully:

1. The renewal charge is applied to your default payment method
2. Your included message allowance refreshes for the new billing period
3. Your [Usage counter](/en/resources/docs/usage-and-message-limits) resets to 0

The renewal date displayed in the Billing tab tells you exactly when the next charge will occur.

## Payment failure and retry behavior

If a payment fails during renewal or overage billing, the platform does not immediately cancel your subscription. Instead, it employs a retry mechanism:

- The system can retry billing collection up to **3 times**
- Retries occur approximately **once per day**

This gives you time to resolve payment issues — such as updating an expired card, contacting your bank, or ensuring sufficient funds — without losing immediate access to your subscription.

<div class="docs-callout docs-callout-warning">
  <p><strong>Important</strong></p>
  <p>A failed payment does not mean immediate cancellation. However, if all retry attempts fail, your subscription status and access may be affected. Make sure you always have a valid payment method on file. See <a href="/en/resources/docs/payment-methods-and-invoices">Payment methods and invoices</a>.</p>
</div>

### What to do when a payment fails

If you receive a notification about a failed payment:

1. **Check your payment method** — Go to the Billing tab → Payment methods and verify that your default card is valid and not expired.
2. **Update or add a new card** — If the card on file is outdated, add a new one and set it as the default.
3. **Contact your bank** — Some payment failures are caused by bank-side holds or security blocks. Confirm with your bank that the charge from Stripe is authorized.
4. **Wait for the retry** — The system will automatically retry the charge. You can also trigger a manual payment from the Stripe customer portal.

## Security and billing trust

All billing, credit card handling, invoices, and payment processing in Interlinked AI are **secured through Stripe**. Interlinked AI does not store full credit card details. When you enter your payment information, it is transmitted directly to and stored by Stripe using their PCI-compliant infrastructure.

This means:

- Your card details are never stored on Interlinked AI servers
- All payment processing follows Stripe's industry-standard security practices
- You can manage your payment methods with confidence that your data is handled securely
