# Create an AI agent

## Start from My Agents

Create and manage agents from **My Agents** in the Interlinked panel. The page shows each agent’s status, customer-facing or internal mode, readiness progress, active channels, abilities, and connected apps.

Choose **Create agent** or **New agent** to begin. The new agent is created as a **draft**. A draft is a saved working configuration; it is not yet answering customers.

</div>

## Complete the four creation steps

The creation flow guides you through four steps:

1. **Identity** — Give the agent a name and describe its role. Use a name your team will recognize when several agents share a workspace.
2. **Workflow** — Choose how the agent should help customers, such as selling products, booking services, qualifying before a booking, or handing a request to your team.
3. **Model** — Choose the available AI model for the agent. The choices and availability depend on your workspace.
4. **Review** — Check the proposed setup before selecting **Create draft**.

The workflow determines which configuration areas matter later. A retail workflow may need a product catalog and fulfillment rules. A service workflow may need services, a calendar, payment choices, or a handoff path. A hybrid workflow can use both product and service information.

If the flow cannot finish all four steps, the panel keeps the incomplete draft. Select **Keep editing** to continue, **Open agent** to work from the agent page, or **Archive draft** if you do not want to keep it. An incomplete draft does not become customer-facing by itself.

## What a draft can and cannot do

Creating a draft does not activate an agent. Before it can answer customers, the agent needs a usable configuration, at least one supported customer channel assigned to it, and a successful readiness check. The panel shows the missing requirements on the agent card and detail page.

You can safely create a draft while your catalog, services, channels, or calendar are still being prepared. Use [Review agent readiness](/en/resources/docs/review-agent-readiness) to understand the checks before you try to launch it.

Workspace limits can also affect creation. If the **Create agent** action is replaced by a plan or support prompt, the workspace has reached its current agent limit. Existing agents and their configurations remain available; creating another agent requires the option shown by the panel.

## Choose a starting point later if needed

The first creation flow is intentionally short. After the draft exists, you can open the agent and choose **Guided configuration** for business questions, or use the settings areas for more direct control. The [Builder](/en/resources/docs/build-agent-workflows) is available when you want to review a workflow as a set of visible steps and checkpoints.

Do not create a separate agent just to test a small change. A draft lets you review changes before publishing, while the live agent keeps its current configuration until you intentionally publish and activate the new setup.

## Recommended next steps

After creating the draft:

- Open [Configure an AI agent](/en/resources/docs/configure-an-ai-agent) to complete identity, workflow, channels, catalog, and safety settings.
- Connect a customer channel from the agent’s **Apps** settings or [Channels & Integrations](/en/resources/docs/channels-and-integrations-overview).
- Review [Agent readiness](/en/resources/docs/review-agent-readiness) before you publish.
- Follow [Publish and activate an agent](/en/resources/docs/publish-and-activate-an-agent) when the draft is ready.

The important distinction is simple: **Create draft** saves the agent; it does not put the agent to work.
