Business hours vs Full day

Understand the difference between Business hours and Full day display modes on the Interlinked Calendar — how each mode filters appointments and how private Google Calendar events are handled.

Last updated:

Purpose of the display selector

At the top right of the calendar, there is a selector with two display modes:

  • Business hours
  • Full day

This selector changes what appointments and time ranges are visible on the calendar. It does not change which appointments exist — it only filters what you see. Both modes are available in month, week, and day views.

Business hours mode

When Business hours is selected, the calendar only shows appointments that fall inside your configured business hours window.

What this means in practice

If your business hours are set to 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the calendar will only display:

  • Appointments scheduled between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM
  • Time slots within that range
  • Blocked periods that affect those hours

Appointments that exist outside your business hours — for example, a booking at 7:00 PM — will not be visible in this mode, even though they still exist in your Google Calendar.

When to use it

Business hours mode is ideal for your daily working view. It removes the visual noise of off-hours time slots and helps you focus on the appointments that matter during your working day. If your business operates on a predictable schedule, this mode gives you the clearest picture of your availability and bookings.

Tip

If you notice that an appointment seems to be missing from the calendar, switch to Full day mode. The appointment may have been booked outside your configured business hours and is simply hidden by the filter.

Full day mode

When Full day is selected, the calendar shows appointments across the entire 24-hour day, regardless of your business hours configuration.

What this means in practice

In Full day mode, you can see:

  • All appointments, including those outside business hours
  • Synced Google Calendar events from any time of day
  • A complete picture of your entire day’s schedule

When to use it

Full day mode is useful when you want a comprehensive view of everything on your schedule — not just work appointments. It is also helpful when troubleshooting missing appointments or understanding conflicts between personal events and business bookings.

Privacy behavior for personal Google Calendar events

When Full day mode is active, you may see events from your personal Google Calendar that fall outside your working hours — birthdays, personal appointments, errands, or other private events.

Interlinked protects your privacy by never revealing the details of these personal events. Instead, they appear on the calendar as:

Busy

No private title, personal notes, or event details are shown. Other users who have access to your Interlinked Calendar — such as employees or team members — will only see that the time is blocked, not why.

This is especially important when:

  • A business owner connects a personal Google Calendar account
  • Employees have access to the shared business calendar in Interlinked
  • The calendar contains both professional meetings and personal events

See Privacy and busy events for a detailed explanation of how privacy works with synced calendar events.

Important

Private Google Calendar events are always displayed as "Busy" regardless of the display mode. Even in Business hours mode, if a personal event falls within your configured hours, it will appear as Busy — never with its real title or details.

How the selector interacts with views

The Business hours / Full day selector works consistently across all three calendar views:

ViewBusiness hours modeFull day mode
MonthShows appointment counts and blocked indicators only for business hoursShows all appointments and events across the full day
WeekColumns display only the business hours time rangeColumns display the full 24-hour range
DayTimeline shows only the business hours windowTimeline shows the complete day from midnight to midnight

The selector state is preserved as you switch between views, so you do not need to re-select your preferred mode each time you change the view.
