Channels and integrations overview
Discover the messaging channels and integrations available in Interlinked AI — connect Instagram, Facebook Messenger, and WhatsApp to let your AI agent receive and respond to customer conversations automatically.
What are channels in Interlinked
Channels are the messaging platforms where your AI agent communicates with customers. When a customer sends a message on one of your connected channels, the AI agent receives it, processes it using your published configuration, and responds automatically — all within seconds.
Interlinked currently supports three messaging channels, all powered by Meta:
| Channel | Platform | Connection method | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Meta (Instagram Direct) | Meta OAuth redirect | Visual brands, retail, lifestyle, DTC businesses | |
| Facebook Messenger | Meta (Facebook Pages) | Meta OAuth redirect | Service businesses, local shops, community-driven brands |
| Meta (WhatsApp Business Platform) | Meta Embedded Signup | High-volume sales, customer service, appointment-based businesses |
You can connect one, two, or all three channels. Each channel operates independently — the AI agent handles conversations on each platform according to your published workflow and business context.

How channel connections work
All three channels connect through Meta — the parent company behind Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp. The connection process uses Meta’s official authorization flows, which means:
- No passwords are shared with Interlinked — you authorize through Meta’s own login screens
- You choose exactly which accounts to connect (your Facebook Page, Instagram Professional account, or WhatsApp phone number)
- Permissions are scoped to messaging — Interlinked requests only the permissions needed to receive and send messages on your behalf
- You can revoke access at any time from your Meta Business settings
Tip
The connection process takes less than two minutes per channel. You will be redirected to Meta's authorization page, select the accounts you want to connect, and return to Interlinked with the channel active.
Where to connect channels
There are two places where you can connect channels:
During onboarding
The Connect channels step in the onboarding wizard is the first opportunity to link your messaging platforms. You must connect at least one channel before you can publish and go live.
After publishing
Once your AI agent is live, you can add, reconnect, or manage channels from the AI Config wizard. This is where you go to connect additional channels later or troubleshoot existing connections.
What happens after you connect a channel
Once a channel is connected and your AI agent is published:
- Incoming messages appear in the CRM — Every customer conversation is visible in the CRM inbox, organized by channel and recency.
- The AI responds automatically — Your agent uses the published workflow, product catalog, and business context to generate relevant replies.
- You can take manual control — At any point, you can switch to manual mode to handle a conversation yourself.
- Conversation history is stored — All messages (both AI and human replies) are saved and accessible in the CRM for up to six months.
Supported media types
Each channel supports different types of media in conversations:
| Media type | Facebook Messenger | ||

| Images | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Videos | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |

Channel-specific considerations
Each platform has unique requirements and behaviors. The detailed guides cover everything you need:
- Instagram requires a Professional account (Business or Creator). See Connect Instagram.
- Facebook Messenger requires a Facebook Page with messaging enabled. See Connect Facebook Messenger.
- WhatsApp uses the WhatsApp Business Platform (API) with Meta Embedded Signup, and has its own messaging limits and template requirements. See Connect WhatsApp Business.
Integrations beyond messaging
Interlinked also supports integrations that extend your AI agent’s capabilities beyond messaging:
- Google Calendar — Required for appointment-based workflows. The AI agent can check availability, create events, and manage scheduling on your behalf. See Google Calendar connection.
Additional integrations may be added in future updates. The Channels and integrations section will be updated as new connections become available.
Security and privacy
Interlinked takes the security of your channel connections seriously:
- All connections use Meta’s official OAuth flows — your Meta credentials are never stored by Interlinked
- Interlinked requests only the minimum permissions required for messaging operations
- You can revoke Interlinked’s access at any time from your Meta Business Settings without contacting support
- Channel data is processed according to Interlinked’s privacy policy and Meta’s platform terms
Important
Never share your Meta password with any third-party service, including support representatives. Interlinked will never ask for your password. All connections happen through Meta's secure authorization screens.
