Understand organizations and workspaces
Understand how Interlinked organizes accounts, organizations, and workspaces, and when workspace context affects panel activity.
Overview
Interlinked uses account and workspace context to determine which business data you are viewing and editing. This matters because conversations, AI configuration, products, orders, calendar settings, usage, and billing all belong to a specific business context.
For many users, this feels simple: one account, one business, one workspace. For teams or multi-business operators, the distinction becomes important because changing context can change what appears in the dashboard and which configuration you are editing.
Account vs organization vs workspace
Use these concepts as a practical mental model:
- Account - The user identity you sign in with, such as your email or Google account.
- Organization - The business context available to your account.
- Workspace - The operational environment where that business’s AI setup, conversations, and records are managed.
The product may show these concepts with labels that depend on the current panel area, but the user-facing rule is consistent: confirm the business context before making changes.
Why workspace context matters
Workspace context affects:
- Which dashboard activity you see
- Which CRM conversations are visible
- Which AI Config draft or published setup you edit
- Which products and orders are available
- Which calendar settings apply
- Which billing and usage information is associated with the account context
If something appears missing, the first thing to check is whether you are in the expected organization or workspace.
When to switch organizations
Switch organizations when you need to manage a different business, brand, location, or client account that your user account can access. Do not switch organizations just to change a product area. For example, opening Orders, Calendar, or Settings does not require switching context unless you are intentionally changing which business you are managing.
For the switching flow, see Switch organizations.
